The official welcome ceremony of the first export train from Turkey to China along the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars and Trans-Caspian East-West corridors took place in Xi’an.
Speakers highlighted the attractiveness of the China-Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey railway line, referred to as the “Middle Corridor”, in terms of distance, time and costs in freight transportation from China, which has the world’s second-largest economy, to Europe and vice versa. It was noted that with the commissioning of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line, the number of trains and the volume of goods transported along this corridor will constantly increase.
