Armenian vandalism extends not only to the historical, cultural and religious heritage of Muslims, but also to the religious shrines of Christians. This time, the target of the vandals was the Russian Orthodox Church in honor of the Transfiguration of the Lord, erected in Kuropatkino (Gevorgavan). This is the only Orthodox church on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, and the sad fate of destruction befell it during the years of occupation of the Khojavend region, which was occupied in February 1992 by the Armenian Armed Forces.
The Russian Orthodox Church is located near the village of Kuropatkino (the village was destroyed to the ground). The church is located 13 km from the regional center of Khojavend and 2 km from it there is a small settlement. The church was built in 1894 according to a standard design.
