Results of environmental monitoring in the territories liberated from occupation

In accordance with the decree of the President of Azerbaijan dated October 29, 2020 “On the organization of a temporary special administration in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan,” employees of the operational headquarters created under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources in order to protect the environment, rational use of natural resources and their primary inventory, the department started monitoring on the territory of Gubadli, Zangilan, Jebrail, Fizuli and Khojavend regions.
The results of the study of the territories along the Araks River showed that all houses, buildings, historical monuments, cemeteries in settlements were completely destroyed, mulberry, poplar, sycamore, pine, fruit trees growing along the roads were cut down or burned.
Deliberate burning of forests and green spaces led to the destruction of vegetation, fertile soil and fauna.
One of the proofs of Armenian vandalism is the deliberate felling of ancient trees. Thus, the results of monitoring indicate that in the Gubadli, Fizuli and Jebrail regions, eastern plane trees, whose age was estimated at hundreds of years, were destroyed, the information says.
