Preparatory work has begun for the return of Azerbaijani names to Armenized toponyms. Chairman of the Commission on Toponymy under the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, academician Isa Habibbeyli said this.
According to him, the names of more than 700 places have been changed in Western Azerbaijan and Karabakh, each of which was artificially and violently Armenianized.
“A list of historical names that were indicated on ancient maps and in other sources is being prepared. The historical names of toponyms must be restored, ”noted I.Gabibbeyli.
