The World Bank Board of Directors plans to approve a new road project in Azerbaijan in the next three months. Sara Michael, head of the WB Baku office, said this.
“The project for the reconstruction of the Salyan-Bilasuvar highway is at the final stage of preparation and will be approved by the WB board within the next three months,” said Michael.
According to her, the project, along with improving road conditions, is also aimed at the economic development of the region through which the road passes. “This is a kind of evolution – we have already had several transport projects in Azerbaijan for 25 years. The current project is also a transport project, but it mainly focuses on regional communications. In addition, it is planned to use part of the funds for the development of the economic opportunities of the region through which the road passes, “said Michael.
