During archaeological excavations carried out by the Naftalan-Geranboy archaeological expedition, a multi-layered settlement was discovered in the village of Gashalty-Garagoyunlu of Naftalan. According to the head of the Naftalan-Goranboy archaeological expedition, Muzaffar Huseynov, the first settlement here was in the 5th millennium BC.
“It was inhabited in the Bronze and Ancient times as well as in the Middle Ages. The majestic hill that you see has formed. During our research, the remains of an Eneolithic building were discovered in this settlement, ”the archaeologist said.
