Baku Military Trophy Park / Baku War Trophy Park

On November 11 – a day after Azerbaijan’s victory in the Patriotic War, the victorious Supreme Commander at a meeting with the servicemen announced plans to demonstrate the enemy’s equipment taken as trophies and destroyed. On April 12, 2021, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev took part in the opening of the Military Trophy Park in Baku.

The Baku War Trophy Park is located in the Khatai district of the capital and covers an area of five hectares. More than 300 exhibits are exhibited in the park, including up to 150 pieces of heavy equipment, tanks, combat vehicles, artillery installations, anti-aircraft missile systems, small arms and military vehicles.

Also on display in the Park are the fragments of Iskander-M missiles, which were launched by the enemy into the territory of Azerbaijan.

One of the most interesting parts of the Military Trophy Park is the territory, which reflects the defensive position, fortified by the enemy for 30 years, and includes a system of engineering barriers, consisting of 10 elements. Here are an anti-tank ditch 5 meters wide and 3-4 meters deep, a mine area, anti-tank concrete supports and metal hedgehogs, a barbed wire net on low supports, a wire net on high supports, an anti-personnel mine area, invisible and three-row tape-type wire obstacles, as well as tape-type wire fences over the trenches.

This system of obstacles was one of the engineering systems that the units of the Azerbaijani army had to overcome in the Fuzuli, Dzhebrail, Agdam, Terter and Geranboy directions. And inside the positions fortified for thirty years, a well-equipped combat post and a soldier’s barracks are located. Near the barracks there are factory-made shelters to protect personnel from artillery and air attacks, and at the combat position there are trenches for riflemen, machine gunners and grenade launchers, and long-term firing points.

The Baku Military Trophy Park also houses one of the most memorable and symbolic compositions of the Victory Parade – a shield made of license plates of more than 2,000 cars taken from the enemy by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the lands liberated from occupation as trophies.

“This shield is evidence of Armenian desertion, because these are the numbers of military trucks. The Azerbaijani army destroyed or took 522 military trucks as trophies. Even during the war, I gave instructions to collect numbers, store them, so that when the day comes, we will show them.” – noted the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Among the trophies presented there is also the KUB anti-aircraft missile system, one sample of heavy tracked vehicles. They are in good condition. To this can also be added up to 150 units of enemy heavy equipment, T-72 tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, 251 Gvozdika self-propelled artillery mounts, Osa anti-aircraft missile system and other exhibits.

Each element in the War Trophy Park is unique. For example, the lower part of the benches installed here is made from ammunition boxes taken as trophies. The lighting system in the park is made of molten shells, and the waste boxes are made of tank shell casings.
