Mud Volcanoes Tourism Complex in Absheron district

Today, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva laid the foundation for the “Mud Volcanoes Tourism Complex“. The tourist complex will be located 59 km south-west of Baku, about 17 km north-west of Gobustan, in the area known as the “Qilinc (Sword) Mud Volcanoes”. Factors such as the nearby volcanoes Toragay and others, one of the largest volcanoes in the world, the presence of three different groups of volcanoes and the location next to the Gobustan nature reserve increase the tourist importance of the area. The 12-hectare Mud Volcanoes Tourism Complex includes an ATV area, walking paths, a zipline and observation tower, a parking lot, a gift shop, and medicinal baths.  To create road infrastructure in this area, it is planned to build a 20-kilometer road from the Gobustan reserve to Mech and the surrounding volcanoes, as well as the Baku-Gobustan-Mud volcanoes tourist cluster.
