The railway depot, which is funded with a sovereign loan from the French Development Agency (AFD), will allow maintenance of 50 new Alstom locomotives, which will be delivered in accordance with an agreement signed with Azerbaijan Railways CJSC in 2014. This was stated by Jean-Baptiste Lemoine, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France.
The construction of the depot was carried out by the Turkish company Kolin under the control of the French company Systra.
