The construction of a new railway between Azerbaijan and Turkey through the territory of Armenia is estimated at $434 million, said Vusal Gasimli, executive director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications (CAERC) of Azerbaijan.
In his opinion, for Azerbaijan, the Kars-Nakhchivan-Meghri-Zangilan-Baku railway is important from the point of view of breaking the blockade of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, reducing transport costs and environmental impacts, as well as increasing opportunities for foreign trade, tourism and passenger turnover and for attracting investment to the region.
