Shusha is planned to be included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List

The Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan has begun work on the preparation of a nomination dossier in order to include the historical center of Shusha in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.
The press service of the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan informs that the inclusion of the Shusha Historical and Architectural Reserve, created in 1977 on the initiative of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, in the preliminary list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2001 is one of the important steps in this direction.
The Shusha Historical and Architectural Reserve includes such monuments as the mosques of Yukhary Gevkharaga, the house of the khan’s daughter Natavan, the palace of the Karabakh khan, the Vagif mausoleum, the house of Mirza Salah bey Zohrabekov, the Shusha barrow, the Shusha cave camp, the Shusha fortress and others.
